HR Business Partner
The interview process included a recruiter screening, followed by an interview with the VP of HR (the hiring manager), and then an interview with the Head of HR. The VP of HR expressed interest in hiring me after an initial conversation, but wanted me to speak with the Head of HR. She suggested coming in the next day, which I couldn't do immediately due to my current full-time job. I was then asked to join a call with the Head of HR later that same day, which also went well and they also expressed interest. They stated they would provide an update by the end of the following day but never did.
- Why are you interested in this role?
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What is the notice period you would need to provide?
Merchandise Planner
I had a 30-minute interview with the recruiter. It was a pretty basic screening interview, but the recruiter seemed really unprepared and was late. He said he'd let me know about next steps by a specific date, but when he didn't, I reached out. I got an automated email saying he was no longer with the company. I then emailed the person listed on his automated email and was told I'd hear about next steps by a certain date. When I followed up again, I heard nothing. After reaching out a second time, I received an automated email saying she was also no longer with the company. The whole process took over a month to get a generic denial email. The company seems to be going through layoffs or maybe a lot of people are quitting, so it's probably not the best place to join right now!
- How comfortable are you with Excel and its functions, on a scale of 1 to 5?
- A few behavioral questions were asked, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Sales Associate
I did an on-site interview first, then a phone interview. The phone interview was with the Sales Director and lasted about 30 minutes. Both the store manager and sales director were helpful in making sure I was a good fit for the role. The whole process is designed to check if Retail Sales Associates are really into Filson products and want to help the sales team.
- What does the Filson brand mean to you?
Engineer
Had a phone chat with HR to kick things off, then flew out to Seattle for the main event at the HQ. The on-site itself felt pretty relaxed, with two one-on-one chats, one with the hiring manager and another with a senior engineer. They let me know the final decision about three weeks after the on-site.
- What's your approach to resolving conflicts among team members?
- Describe how you've managed a challenging work situation.
