I was contacted on LinkedIn for an Experience Designer role and after that, I was given a design assessment which took me over two days to finish. Once I was done with it, I had to present my design and rationale to a panel of team members. The presentation was intense and it felt like they were critically judging my work. After the assessment and presentation, I never heard back from the company which was disappointing as I didn't get any feedback. It felt like a waste of time and left a negative impression.

It took about 2-3 weeks to get through the whole thing. Started with an email asking about my skills and how they fit the job. Then I did an online video interview with some basic front-end questions. After that, I had a phone call with the dev lead and CTO. The last step was an in-person interview with the dev lead, CTO, and a senior front-end dev. During the in-person, they wanted me to talk through how I'd build a mockup a designer gave me, basically thinking out loud about my approach. Got the offer a few days later and accepted, but then had to back out because of unexpected stuff. I'd like to reapply when things change.

I went in for an in-person interview at the office, feeling optimistic after two phone calls and an online test. The interviewer, however, seemed unhappy and a bit arrogant, like he was forced to be there. The interview questions felt like a random grab-bag from the internet, with some tricky ones, and the interviewer didn't even know the answers to a couple, using outdated information. It was a negative experience overall, not super hard, just tricky questions. I knew I probably wouldn't get the job, and I didn't, but after that interview, I wasn't too upset about it.

It's a small company, so the interview process is usually very quick. The hiring manager contacted me, and I was invited for an interview the same day. I had a 45-60 minute 1:1 chat with an agile team lead. After that, I had another interview later that week with an executive. Both interviews were a mix of questions and discussion about my past experience, education, and personal goals. I got the offer within a week after the second interview. Everyone was professional and nice.
