It was a 2-day process with 2 interview rounds. I first spoke with the regional ops manager in the morning. By the afternoon, HR called to let me know there was a hiring freeze. So, they wasted 2 hours of my time.

I applied for the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Director role in November. Soon after, I got an email asking for my availability for a phone interview. The first interview was half an hour and went fine. Two days later, they replied to my thank you email saying the department head liked my background but there was a slight hold on this position. They told me to wait for the next steps. Almost two months later, I got a generic rejection email. It's not okay if I wasn't the right fit, but why waste my time and give false hope after I already invested time interviewing and preparing? It's disrespectful and rude to candidates. I thought we all learned to treat people better during the pandemic! This shows me it's not a company that would be a considerate employer. Thank you Buyk for helping me avoid a bad situation. I can now take my time to find a good next step instead of rushing into another bad workplace culture.
