Software Engineer
I went through two stages. First, a recruiter screen which was actually pretty great. Marcus, the recruiter, was awesome and I really enjoyed our chat. The questions were standard, but it was a really good experience. Then, the technical interview. This one was kind of interesting and a bit unusual. Since it was for an Android role, I was happy it focused on practical Android development. We started by talking about my background and experience, then they asked some Android/Kotlin specific questions. After that, there was a coding part. This is where it got a bit weird. The invite said 45 minutes for the whole thing, so by the time we finished the first part, I only had about 25 minutes left for coding. This made me feel rushed, even though the call ended up going the full hour. It would have been better if they were clearer about the timing. The coding task was to implement a list using Jetpack Compose. It was mostly straightforward, but we had to do it in a plain text editor, not a proper coding environment like CoderPad. No code completion, no syntax highlighting, nothing. I really think they should let candidates use Android Studio for this. Using that notepad-like interface felt tedious and counterintuitive for a role that's supposed to mimic real Android development. There also seemed to be some confusion about the instructions. The interviewer said exact syntax wasn't crucial and I could use pseudocode, so I thought implementing the data class, view model, and repository could be more pseudocode-heavy, with the Compose part being the focus. But when I used some pseudocode, the interviewer was a bit too focused on exact syntax. It also didn't feel very collaborative, more like being watched and graded rather than a pair programming simulation. Overall, I thought the interview went well, but I was surprised not to move on. It happens. I think they could definitely improve the technical interview step, but it was still positive because it was actually Android-related and not generic LeetCode problems.

Payroll Manager
The hiring process for this role was set to be four rounds long, with questions that were directly related to the job. My second interview had to be rescheduled with little notice, but I used the extra time to get ready. After I finished the rescheduled second interview, I got an email saying I was moving on to the third round with the Controller. I sent my availability quickly. However, I didn't hear back about confirming the next interview for the rest of that day or the next. I decided to follow up after a day of no response. Later that day, I was told that the company had changed its mind about the process and was going in a different direction for the role. So, the third interview didn't happen. I thanked them for their time and said I understood that priorities can change. I also asked if they could give me any feedback to help with my job search. Even though I didn't get feedback after everything was done, I would have appreciated it. I was still thankful for the chance to interview and learn about the company. I get that priorities shift, and I still believe this company has a great product that will do well in the market.

Client Success Manager
The interview process was great - until they ghosted me. The initial call and first-round interview went well. The company rescheduled my interview and unfortunately, I couldn’t book the conference room I had originally planned to use for the new time, so I had to take the interview in a different location that wasn’t ideal. Still, I thought it went well. I was told I’d hear back in a few days. I followed up the next day to thank them for the interview, then again about a week later, but never got a response to either email. Overall, the process was really positive, and I enjoyed speaking with everyone about the role. I completely understand if I wasn’t the right fit, but I was really excited about the opportunity and felt the first round went well - so it would have been nice to at least get a response.
- How can you relate your previous experience to this position?
Collections Specialist
The interview process started with a recruiter call covering basic info. Then, there was a call with the finance manager who asked detailed questions about my experience related to the job. The third interview was supposed to be with the VP of finance, but she cancelled it last minute, and the recruiter emailed me at 3 am to say the team decided to go in a different direction. I suspect this is a ghost job because the process dragged on for over 3 weeks, the ad is still up, and the job was supposed to be temporary until January 1st. It felt like a waste of time, and the company doesn't seem to respect employees, especially with the late-night emails.
