First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Butte College.
Office Administrator
It was a Zoom Panel interview that lasted about 45 minutes, then an in-person Panel interview also around 45 minutes. They provided the questions through chat or on paper, which was super helpful! I did notice some overlap in questions between the two interviews, making it a bit tricky to give totally fresh answers. They made a big deal about notifying you about the next steps, and I got a bunch of calls one afternoon with no voicemails, making it hard to know what was up. Ultimately, after a final selection round, they didn't even send a rejection email or call. The thought was there, but the follow-through wasn't great. Standardized emails would probably be more efficient for everyone.

Math Tutor
It was a pretty chill one-on-one interview. The person interviewing me was really nice and tried to make me feel comfortable. They didn't ask any tough questions, just some easy ones about my schooling and why I believed I could do well in the position.
- What are your academic objectives?
- What makes you confident about succeeding in this position?
Student Assistant
Basically, they want to see if you can work for them and they'll offer you the job based on how you do in class because they need the help. The interview is just a formality, the real interview happened way before they offered you the job.
- Could you tell us about your previous experience?
- Are you able to manage your time to meet our needs?
- Do you tend to take on too much?
Academic Advisor
It was an hour long interview. They gave me 15 minutes at the start for interview questions. I had to prepare a powerpoint presentation. There were a lot of people on the panel!
- Why do you think you are the best person for this role?
