Applied for a position back in February and never heard back. Then in April, they emailed stating they still hadn't filled the position and why I waited to apply for other positions with Elite Daily since they just acquired that site. Applied for two writer positions, heard back from the lifestyle editor asking if I could commit to the days and take an edit test. The edit test was ridiculous and took more than 6 hours. Submitted it before the deadline and heard nothing. Followed up the following week to see if they received it and was ignored. Then, two weeks later after Memorial Day Weekend I get a generic email saying they're not moving forward but to apply for their other open positions. It's insulting, unprofessional, and disrespectful to not only ignore a follow-up email but to string someone along for weeks when they provided you with such an in-depth and lengthy edit test. Seems fishy that they might be using all the topics prospective writers provided them with.

I applied online and got a response after three weeks. They sent me an editing test that I had to send back within a week. A few days after that, I had a video call where we set up a trial workday to check my remote work setup. I got the job offer about a week after the trial.

I applied online and after a month and a half, I got an email about their next step in the hiring process, which was an edit test attached. I never heard from them before this email. The edit test was super long, it took me about a day to finish, and I've been in this field for 10 years and never seen anything like it. They sent it to me without even speaking to me first and wanted it back in 48 hours. I was out of town when they sent it, so I asked for an extension and they said they would "consider" it by the day I got back. It took me about 5-6 hours to complete the test, it wasn't hard, just really long. It felt insulting to do all that work with no job offer. Two days later, I got a rejection email from a no-reply address. I was shocked because I have hired people before and would never send such a rude email. This whole process was impersonal and disregarded my time, and then they sent a rude email. I can't believe they treat candidates like this and I feel like I dodged a bullet.
