First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burt's Bees.
Manager
First, I had an HR interview over the phone, followed by a virtual interview with the hiring manager. The HR department then reached out to schedule a third call, during which I was informed that I hadn't been selected for the position. They did offer feedback, which I understand is quite unusual. Overall, it was a very respectful process.
- Can you describe your experience related to this position?
- Could you elaborate on your work style?
- What management style do you prefer?
Software Engineer
The interview process wasn't very organized. They cared more about whether you could pass tests than about assessing your personality. If you've been through an interview before, you should be okay.
- Tell me about your motivation for applying to this role.
Engineering Intern
The interview process at Burts bees involved meeting with five interviewers sequentially in a single room, with each session lasting 15 to 30 minutes. I spoke with the plant manager, HR director, Improvement Engineer, Training and Qualification Lead, and the Chief of Engineering. Each interview was distinct, as I was one of four candidates, and three of us were hired. The variety in interviews was due to each engineering team member seeking different skills in their summer intern. I personally liked this setup because it allowed me to gauge each interviewer's style and work expectations, and compare them. It gave me a very clear understanding of our summer projects. In fact, one of my summer projects was directly inspired by a question asked during the interviews; they basically tasked me with executing the idea I presented, providing resources for it.
- Given a very specific problem scenario, how would you apply the skills highlighted on your resume to find a solution, providing a precise, fact-based answer?
- Could you describe what your ideal summer internship experience would be, both professionally and personally?
Engineer
The interview focused heavily on my abilities and aspirations. The interviewer was friendly and gave clear answers to my inquiries about the job and the company. Although I did not accept the offer, the interaction was pleasant.
- What is your unique offering compared to other candidates?
