First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burkland Associates.
Accounting Manager
First interview was rescheduled last minute by the recruiter. The rescheduled interview went well and I was moved to the next stage. I waited in that call but the interviewer never came. I reached out to the recruiter and let them know but I didn't hear anything back which seems quite disrespectful of my time.
- Tell me about your experience
Assistant Controller
I went through three virtual interviews for the role. They were scheduled promptly and each felt pretty relaxed, though they definitely dug into my technical skills. They also seemed keen on making sure I'd fit in with the company culture, which was nice.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
People Partner
I had an initial video screen with the hiring manager which went well. They let me know the next step pretty soon after: a presentation I'd have to prepare and then deliver to her and another stakeholder. I finished it (took about 2-3 hours) and sent it over, providing my availability. She scheduled it, but for a time I wasn't free, so I reached out thinking it was a timezone mix-up. Then she responded saying her admin had actually moved me ahead by mistake to the presentation round and that we were on different pages regarding compensation, so to disregard the presentation. That I'd already completed it and scheduled a time to talk about it. Really poor and unprofessional communication.
- Can you describe strategic initiatives you've been involved in?
Controller
They got back to me fast after I applied and set up the interviews. The questions were good, but the interviewers weren't the friendliest. They skipped the usual small talk and just got straight to business, which felt very formal.
- Can you explain the difference between cash and accrual accounting methods?
