The process involved 3 stages. First, a 45-minute chat with the recruiter covering general questions and then a slide with 10 technical questions to answer at your own pace, which really test your Swift fundamentals. Next was a 90-minute session: 30 minutes for system design requirements, 15 minutes for code review, and a 45-minute coding exercise where you clone a repo and push your code – make sure your GitHub is working! The coding questions were challenging given the time. Finally, another 90-minute round, split into 45 minutes of behavioral questions and 45 minutes for a full system design. Overall, a really nice and friendly process.

I applied through an online quiz on Hackerrank for a Moscow mobile engineering recruiting event. After passing the quiz, I was invited to the Badoo office in Moscow for a series of interviews. Each interview lasted about 30-60 minutes and covered platform, computer science, and system design. The interviewers were very nice and competent. During one interview, I wrote code on paper, and in another, a whiteboard was used for system design. The organization of the event was the worst part; I was at their building for about 8 hours, but only 2 of those hours were spent on interviews. I spent the rest of the time waiting, and they kept postponing the interviews by an hour, which left me completely exhausted.
- Standard platform interview questions were asked, without any tricky parts.
- Some platform questions were also asked in computer science, along with testing and rewriting code from Objective-C to Swift.
- An algorithm was requested to merge two arrays with some specific merging conditions.

I applied through a recruiter. First, I had some tech questions that the recruiter asked, which was strange but okay. They were pretty standard questions, although 'two core components of cocoa' stumped me as I only knew of NSObject. The advanced questions were all Big O ones. Next stage was the tech task which is on hackerrank and I had not practiced in ages so this I found really tough. Unsurprisingly I didn't get through!
- Can you describe the differences between Automatic Reference Counting (ARC) and Manual Reference Counting (MRC)?
- What is the difference between frame and bounds?
