Behavioral Technical Coding

Started with a recruiter call where we talked about salary expectations, and the recruiter mentioned mine were high for an SDE III with 5 years of experience in Boston, even though I thought they were standard. Then, a hiring manager call went really well, with some behavioral questions and a coding question about balanced parentheses, which got me to the final panel rounds. The first panel round was with a technical lead, and we worked on a Front End Typescript problem in JSFiddle. The second panel round was even better, covering Java theory and a coding round on anagrams. The third round, scheduled for the next day, turned out to be a light behavioral interview, even though the interviewer didn't realize it was supposed to be an individual round. The fourth round was cancelled by the person HR communicated with. Despite spending so many hours interviewing and having a great experience, I received a rejection email. It felt like a total waste of time, especially since the fourth round didn't even happen. My advice is not to waste your time if the recruiter already says your salary expectation is too high.

The interviewer started with a quick pitch about Bullhorn's great culture, mentioning perks like free soda, some lunches during the week, and a casual dress code. Then, without further discussion, they stated the job's salary was $45k. I indicated that this was too low, and since it wasn't negotiable, that concluded the interview. I later found a job with over 50% higher pay. While Bullhorn seems like a good company, I'm surprised they can hire developers at that rate and wonder about the talent they attract.

I went through several rounds of interviews. First, there was a call with the recruiter, then a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I had a technical interview and a culture interview. The interviews included some technical questions, but they were mostly focused on personality. It was a pretty good experience overall.
