It was about a month-long process. First, there was a quick phone screen to make sure my experience and expectations were aligned. Then, a culture assessment interview. After that, a technical interview covering data and API integration questions. Finally, on-site interviews with directors.

Behavioral

It was a behavioural based interview, pretty much following the Amazon model where you have to give real examples of things you actually did in a real world situation. No hypotheticals. You should practice beforehand and research behavioural questions on the internet so you are prepared.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was pretty quick and I liked it. Started with a recruiter call, then a call with a teammate. After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager. Then I had an onsite "super day" where I met with a cross-functional partner, another long-time Built employee from a different org, and then had a second and final chat with the hiring manager.

Coding Technical Behavioral

I interviewed for two different roles. The first one involved an initial phone call, followed by a take-home coding assignment and then a code review with a manager. I thought that part was cool 'cause the manager was really nice and helpful during the code review. After that, I had interviews with several engineers from different teams and then an interview with upper management. That first interview experience was just okay. Everyone was nice, but it felt a bit disorganized since I didn't really know who to contact. That role didn't work out, but they reached out about a month later for another job. I had a good talk with management and got sent another code challenge. They said they'd set up the next interview after I sent it, but I never got an invite. I followed up a couple of times to make sure it wasn't lost in email, but they never replied. I was pretty confused about what happened and felt like a rejection would've been better than being left hanging. Overall, people were really nice, but the process seemed disorganized compared to other places. Getting ghosted was pretty disappointing. It's a shame it didn't work out because they're working on some really interesting projects!

  • Can you tell me why you were interested in this particular role?
