First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Buckley.
Legal Counsel
So first, there was this thirty min Zoom call with a partner. Then, a second round happened, which was four thirty min Zoom interviews with three partners and one associate. It was mostly just talking about my past experience and where I want to go.
- Would you be interested in pursuing a partnership track?
Legal Secretary
I had a phone interview with the Office Manager and the secretary who was leaving. Then, they called to set up live interviews with the whole team. The live interviews included the Office Manager + the secretary who was leaving, then I met with each attorney and the paralegal one at a time. The job is mostly admin, the paralegal handles all the litigation. Everyone was nice except one Counsel who seemed annoyed to be there, showing his annoyance openly. I thought he'd be hard to work with. Another attorney asked about age, which is probably illegal.
- Can you handle making travel arrangements?
- Are you familiar with entering timesheets?
- What's your least favorite part of being a legal secretary?
Paralegal
The interview process was pretty good overall. They were efficient and professional, and I liked talking to everyone. It was all behavioral. First, I talked to HR on the phone. Then, I had another phone call with some lawyers, a paralegal, and another HR person. The interviews felt more like chats, and no questions were too hard. I did two rounds of interviews, but then didn't hear back after the second one, even though they wanted someone to start around now and it's been three weeks. I get they probably have lots of applicants, but I'm bummed they didn't even send a quick rejection email.
- What makes you interested in this company?
- Can you describe your approach to handling repetitive tasks?
- What do you consider your biggest area for improvement?
Associate
The interview process was totally painless. The HR/recruiting staff are great and the interview was super conversational and easy-going. The only downside was the pretty long wait of about 6 weeks between interviewing and getting the offer.
- What makes you interested in financial services law?
- What makes you interested in Buckley Sandler?
