This was a super easy interview with a manager. It wasn't very formal and felt pretty low stakes. The main thing they wanted to know was if you have restaurant experience, unless you're aiming to be a host.

I sent my resume in and got a call back in under a day. The recruiter was super enthusiastic and asked if I could come in the next day, which I did. She seemed really happy with my resume and we talked about shifts and my availability. I really thought I had the job at this point. Then she went to run my background check and sent another manager to talk to me. That's when things went downhill. He was totally impersonal and acted like he didn't want to be there. He asked me the same questions as the first lady but in a way that made me feel dumb. When I asked about the background check, he said it would take 'a few minutes to a couple hours' and then asked if I knew how to leave. The interview was over just like that, and I left feeling really confused. It's been almost a week and I haven't heard anything back, not even to say they went with someone else. It feels really unprofessional and rude. Honestly, I'm kind of glad. I wouldn't want to work somewhere I was treated like that.

It was a quick, straightforward process. The manager needed staff for the season, and I needed a job, so it was done. I found the manager to be the nicest I've ever met; they clearly understood their restaurant's needs and what customers wanted. The team we had in 2014 was the most stable serving staff I've ever encountered, which is significant. For at least seven months, I didn't notice many new hires or people quitting. Most everyone stayed and seemed to enjoy their work.
