Graphic Designer
The company's response to my feedback after the interview process was over was that "this process is not for everyone." In the later stages, I was questioned about whether I had portfolio work in social media, which should have been clear after two previous interviews. I had to spend most of the interview highlighting the three projects that were primarily social media work. The descriptions clearly stated they were from social-only agencies and were presented in a typical social media grid format. I haven't encountered interviewers being confused by this before, especially since my resume also indicates my experience with two social-only agencies. I explained all this and expressed my disappointment. It's a shame the final comment was "this process is not for everyone."
- What suggestions do you have for increasing the company's social media presence?
Skincare Consultant
The interview process involved questions about typical client consultation scenarios, where I was asked how I would recommend products based on individual skin concerns, as well as a few situational questions to assess my problem-solving skills. They emphasized the importance of personalized advice and ethical considerations in product recommendations. I learned that the company values technical knowledge, customer care, and continuous learning about new skincare ingredients and trends. They also shared their commitment to client education and promoting skin health, which aligned with my passion for holistic skincare. The interview reinforced my interest in the role and the company’s mission, providing a great opportunity to showcase my expertise and enthusiasm for skincare consultancy, and I left feeling more confident about my potential fit within the team.
- Could you share your background and experience in skincare or beauty consulting, and how you keep up with the latest skincare trends and ingredients?
- What is your approach to a client with sensitive or problematic skin?
- Describe a situation where you successfully assisted a client in finding the right products for their skin.
Director of Finance
The interview process had a lot of red flags from the get-go. While the interviews themselves were pleasant, they hinted at a really toxic internal culture. The hiring manager and some outside advisors both talked a lot about the CEO's demanding work style, like needing to be available at 6am local time for her texts. They also brought up the senior exec's Israeli background, which I didn't press them on, but maybe they were checking my reaction to it given current events. They also consistently described the senior exec as very tough and unforgiving. My 30-minute interview with the CEO started 7 minutes late, and it was a straight Q&A, not a conversation at all. Her lateness felt disrespectful and showed poor time management. Honestly, no one outside of doctors or first responders should be expected to answer 6am texts, definitely not in a finance role. To top it off, the offer stage was a mess. HR told me one salary and base on the phone, but the written offer was significantly lower. Mistakes happen, but that was the last straw. Plus, the offer includes the longest NDA, noncompete, and nondisparagement agreement I've ever seen, even prohibiting negative talk about the CEO and company.
- How do you handle managing expectations with superiors?
E-Commerce Director
So I interviewed with Bubble for a Director of E-Commerce role. It started out great, I was really excited about the company and the people I spoke with were all really nice and seemed super into what they were doing. The team seemed busy, which is understandable for a company that's so focused on their customers. After two rounds where I put in a lot of effort preparing specific ideas for them, I never heard back. They ghosted me, which was really disappointing, especially since they said they'd follow up. It's unprofessional and disheartening. I hope they can improve their communication because even a quick update would have been nice. I'd still consider applying again though because I love how they genuinely prioritize customers.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage and prioritize several tasks simultaneously?
- In your experience, how do you leverage data and analytics to inform your decisions?
