The interview process had 2 rounds, it was pretty straightforward. They wanted to see if I would fit with the company culture and employees. You need to be sure you're the right person to handle a small budget.

Behavioral Technical Case

It all started with a surprise HR phone screen right after Thanksgiving, and they seemed really eager to make a quick decision. Then I had a follow-up with the hiring manager. After that, there was an in-person interview with the team, and they even covered my travel expenses. The very last step was another one-on-one with the hiring manager, who had some more questions and a scenario for me. The whole thing wrapped up in mid-January. When I followed up about two weeks after the final interview, I found out they were actually restarting the process with other candidates, even though we went through four interviews.

Confirmed questions6 questions
  • How do you approach learning new applications you haven't used before?
  • Could you describe your management style and its evolution over time?
  • Would you be willing to relocate for about five weeks during the summer to Tamglewood?

I was first contacted for a phone screen and then got to an in-person meeting with the Chief Development Officer. I followed up 3 times for next steps or a timeline, but the Director of Board Engagement never got back to me after my onsite visit. After 30 days of silence, I got a generic "thank you, this position has been filled" email from Workday. It was super disappointing after we talked about how important relationship-building is at BSO.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The role was initially described as 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, but now we are considering making it a 5-day onsite position. Would that be acceptable to you?

Behavioral Technical

I applied online via a link a friend sent me. About a week later, the manager of sponsor relations reached out to set up an interview. It was a standard interview with some info about job duties, pretty typical for an internship. I think they like people with music industry experience though. Everyone was really nice and helpful, but the Symphony Hall was being renovated, so it was hot and noisy.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Could you describe your career aspirations following graduation?
