This was my first ever assessment centre and I found it a bit confusing at the time. But having done more assessment centres since, I'd say it's about the same difficulty as others. There’s a timed task which is tricky if you don't know much about assessment centres. The interviewers were really friendly and personable though, which helped me feel more confident during the interview stages.

It started with a standard application plus an online test. Then came the assessment centre which included a group negotiation exercise, a markup exercise where you fix the mistakes in an email, and a case study interview with a presentation. For the case study, you pick an investment opportunity and explain why it's the best. For the case study, use the subheadings they give you and keep it really straightforward and simple. No visual aids are allowed for the case study presentation, so make sure to speak clearly and follow a logical structure.

Behavioral Case

I applied online for the vacation scheme and was successful after attending an assessment centre. I then had a final interview for the training contract at the end of the vacation scheme. While the interview process itself was positive, the feedback provided was unhelpful and detracted from the overall experience. Unfortunately, the firm had already filled all the training positions for my intake year, and only offered places to 2 out of the 20 candidates on the next intake.
