Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
Trainee Lawyer
It was an all-day assessment that included a written exercise, a role-play exercise, a group exercise, and an interview. The structure was really good, and the staff were welcoming. The exercises weren't overly difficult, but there was pressure to complete them within the time limit. The interview itself felt pretty informal.
- Can you explain the revenue streams of a law firm?
Attorney
The interview process involved both telephone and video calls. It felt friendly but a bit strange. There were three interviewers, two of whom were on video while one was present in the office. The interview took place both in an office setting and remotely.
- What is your experience?
Trainee Lawyer
The interview kicked off with the standard questions like 'why law?' and 'why BCLP?'. Then, I was hit with quite a few competency-based questions, including prompts about a time I worked in a team and a time I had to tackle a challenge. We also spent a good amount of time going over my CV. While it felt a bit like a grilling at times, overall, it was a positive experience.
- What other firms have you applied to?
