First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bruce Power.
Nuclear Operator
So the NOIT interview process at Bruce Power is pretty standard. It starts with submitting your application online and then HR does a quick screening. If you pass that, you'll get a phone pre-screen. Next up is a structured panel interview where they'll ask you behavioural and some basic technical questions. After that, they do reference checks, a medical evaluation, and a full security clearance is needed before they can give you a conditional offer.
- When you enter a room, what's the very first thought that comes to mind?
Project Manager
So there was like a behavioural, an intro, and a final round. They asked a lot about PM processes and how to work with teams. Also touched on culture. Wasn't too difficult though. Having prior PM experience really helps since it'll help you answer a lot of the questions.
- Can you explain how you manage deadlines when working with different functional teams?
- How do you approach managing deadlines across cross-functional teams?
Engineering Student
It was a preliminary screening call. Questions were asked regarding my education, experience and skills and current projects and goals of Bruce Power were discussed. The phone call was roughly 25 minutes and was conducted like a casual conversation. Felt like the call went well, told I would receive further instructions soon. But I did not receive any further communication, not even an e-mail saying 'sorry but you will not be considered' despite multiple follow-up emails.
- Given a challenging engineering problem, how would you approach solving it?
Nuclear Operator
It was a really thorough interview process, covering both behavioral and technical aspects. First, I passed some initial screening questions. Then, there was an hour-long part with situational questions, focusing on how I'd handle different scenarios. The second phase was entirely technical, with questions about technology background. They also set up an online technical test within a specific time slot.
- Could you explain what half duty means for a pump?
- What is water hammer?
- Can you tell me why Feed Water is preheated before entering the system?
