First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brown & Riding.
Intern
Found an internship at my college career fair. Attended a company mixer that night and got invited for an on-campus interview the next day. The interview was on campus with 4 employees from Brown & Riding. Since I had no prior experience, we went through my resume and discussed my listed positions and experiences.
- Can you share the core values of Brown & Riding and provide an example of when you've demonstrated these values in your life?
HR Assistant
I applied online through Indeed.com and got a response about a month later. I had a 45-minute video interview with the HR director in Atlanta. They scheduled it for 11 am his time, which was 8 am for me, leaving me little time to prepare after waking up. I felt this was inconsiderate as they didn't consider my schedule or time preference. The video quality was also poor, making the call uncomfortable. The director asked standard questions and had me go through my resume. The atmosphere was formal and stiff, and he didn't really ask about my personality or achievements, nor did he try to build a casual rapport. Additionally, candidates are required to complete several tests, including a 15-minute, 50-question mental agility assessment.
- What drives you?
- How do you practically demonstrate that you are a quick study?
- What is your understanding of our company?
Associate Broker
I was interviewed at a college career fair. It was very casual. I was interviewed by mostly young people who were hired out of college and the CEO. They asked very basic questions about my experience, what I value in a workplace, and my personality traits.
- Tell me about your college classes and how you could apply what you learned to the real world.
Production Assistant
After my application was reviewed, I had a 30-minute phone chat with an HR recruiter. Then, I did an online aptitude test at home which took about 20-30 minutes. Finally, there was a one-hour in-person interview with the broker, where I also met the broker's team and other office members.
- Are you licensed in Property and Casualty?
- Do you have prior experience in the industry?
