The interview process with Brooklinen was overall pretty good, other than not getting the job. HR was very communicative and transparent about the process. I had 6 interviews and 1 take-home evaluation.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I enjoyed learning about the team, even though the job title felt like a step back. The role really matched my skills and interests, and I was keen to join. The interview process felt too rigid and didn't allow for deep conversations. It lasted about 1.5 months and involved meeting people from different departments, doing a project, a review, and more check-ins. Six interviews for an Associate role seemed like a lot and made the process feel disjointed. I get the need to find the right person, but the short 30-minute calls didn't give enough time to really show my qualifications. After quick intros, there was little time to talk about my experience before jumping into questions. Many questions were repeated and superficial, preventing a more insightful discussion. Everyone was friendly, but the process felt rushed, and they seemed very focused on the time. The conversations were also quite rigid, not allowing for much flexibility. Maybe fewer, longer sessions with multiple people could let candidates answer more thoroughly and avoid repeating themselves. This could also make the experience better for everyone.

Technical Case

The process involved about 6 or 7 interviews total, including a proctored technical test. After checking my referrals and the final interview, they requested a case study, which is when I withdrew. The recruiter was communicative and helpful throughout, though the case study wasn't mentioned initially. The interviews and technical test were discussed upfront.

Behavioral Case

I had 4 total interviews with the Brooklinen team and completed 1 at-home assignment. Everyone I spoke to on the team was super lovely and it was a rather quick process considering there were 4 interviews. I did not make it past the 4th interview, however I believe if I did, there would have been a 5th and final interview and a call to all 3 of my references. Was overall a very positive experience despite the disappointment of not receiving an offer.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to help a customer?
  • Tell me about a time you had to collaborate with a difficult colleague and how you handled it.
  • What are your strategies for managing stress during high-pressure periods?
