Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brookdale Senior Living.
Marketer
It was like a sales 101 manual. Mostly just basic "tell me about a time when..." kind of scenario questions. They weren't super clear about how the commission pay structure worked. The manager was really nice, but it felt like they were more into marketing than managing people.
- How would you bypass the gatekeeper?
Sales and Marketing Manager
It was a pretty fast but complete process. I submitted my resume online, and the ED called within a few days to set up an interview. About 4-5 days later, I had a second interview with the ED and the District Director of Sales. A job offer came 2-3 days after that, followed by a drug test and background check. Then I started working.
- Can you share an example of a success?
- Tell me about a time you showed persistence.
- Describe a failure you experienced and how you managed to overcome it.
Sales and Marketing Manager
Brookdale is really focused on their residents and families. The process starts with a phone interview. After that, they'll invite you in for a behavior style interview. Then you'll interview with regional managers and then the team. You could have up to seven interviews total. They also do background and drug testing. It's really important that candidates are compassionate and love older people. It's a nice company.
- How do you feel about working with people who might pass away while you're employed here?
