First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bronto Software.
Sales Manager
So, I had 2 interviews. First time they basically told me they weren't expecting me so they had to find someone last minute to interview me. We talked about next steps with HR, but then nothing happened. They rescheduled. This time they knew I was coming. The first meeting started 30 minutes late though. We went through all the interviews and we all agreed on the next steps. But then they came back saying they decided to go a different way. It really seems like they tell you one thing and do the opposite. I think this is just how the company operates, and I feel bad for their customers.
- Standard questions were typically asked.
- The VP of Sales commented on my resume's formatting instead of asking difficult questions.
Client Services Manager
A recruiter called me for an initial phone screening, where we talked about my resume and salary expectations. Then, I had a 45-minute phone interview with my potential manager. She was very open about the role and Bronto's culture. A few weeks later, I came in for an in-person interview, which consisted of three separate interviews over 3 hours. My recruiter met me, gave me a tour, and then I met with the hiring managers, some peers, and the CEO. It was great that the CEO met with me, giving me good company insight. Everyone was friendly and the interviews felt like conversations. The only downside was the long decision time, as it was a new role and they were defining its scope, which was understandable but a bit frustrating while waiting.
- What activities do you engage in outside of your regular work hours to advance your career?
Sales Development Representative
Applied online and got a recruiter call within a week. The recruiter was nice, and after a brief chat, I was invited to meet the MD. The MD conversation was good, and he seemed like a strong leader with a clear vision. He then had a sales colleague join us for a short talk. This colleague was more focused on boasting about his own successes than engaging with me, which was a bit off-putting. After that, I was asked to come in and meet my potential line manager. She spent the time asking me about my past experiences from school, going way back, and other questions that didn't seem related to the job. When I questioned this, she became very defensive. I decided to withdraw my application.
- Can you explain your knowledge of Bronto?
Support Associate
First there was a short, unexpected phone chat with a manager. This was followed by an in-person interview. I interviewed with two associates which was alright, but the VP of client services was a bit off-putting, making me feel tense and uncomfortable for the rest of the interview. The company initially seemed cool because of its 'laid-back' vibe, but I got the sense they focus too much on 'extra-curricular' stuff. I'd tell anyone who worked here before and gave it an average review that I'd back them up.
- What is your biggest pet peeve about coworkers?
- If you were a superhero, who would you be and what makes you choose them?
- Is there a song that you feel strongly connected to?
