HR Advisor
The interview process is really tiring and takes a long time because you have to talk to so many different people. The way the organization is set up seems pretty complicated. The interviews themselves are the standard structured/behavioral type.
- Can you share an example of a situation you encountered that involved a complicated organizational structure?
- Could you describe a difficult experience you've managed in your prior HR capacity?
- What's your strategy for approaching structured behavioral interviews?
Supervisor
The company has had a lot of HR leakage recently, there was an attitude (good) that they will find the right person this time. Fairly standard interview process. Hiring manager, his manager, and HR I was made quite welcome. And appreciated the atmosphere. Unfortunately I was till recently on the other side of the fence with BRS. For some reason they immediately wanted to look at pay and other conditions. This is 4 interviews in a row where pay etc is up for discussion from the get go. I find this strange
- Tell me about a time you addressed someone's breach of safety protocols and the result of that intervention.
Bid Leader
I had a panel interview with some of the peers and managers. The questions they asked were focused on my skills and my ability to do the job. It felt like a good mix of talking about what I've done and what I could do in the future. The interview lasted about an hour, which seemed about right for the role and the people there. They asked some really good questions, and it felt more like a conversation than a test with standard questions. I felt like I could really get my points across and be understood.
- Can you share your experiences of working under pressure?
Human Resources
I applied online and was then called to schedule some tests. The tests were online and I was told to do them in a quiet place. They took about an hour and included verbal reasoning, maths, and a personality test. The company called me back within 3 days to invite me for an interview. Before the interview, I had to fill out a paper form at their office with most of the same info from my application. The interview itself was with a Recruiter and the person currently doing the job. They told me about the next steps at the end. The process felt smooth and efficient with good communication about any changes. The office was professional and the staff were polite. The main issue was that the interview was completely HR-focused. Since I don't have an HR background (which was on my resume), it was hard to answer questions like "Only considering your HR experience, how did you..." because I couldn't use my other relevant experience. I thought they'd see the relevance of my other skills since they interviewed me. It felt like the recruiter wasn't able to conduct the interview effectively.
- How do you prioritize your tasks, specifically based on your HR experience?
