Administrative Assistant
This was a recruiter call for an Administrative Assistant position. The interviewer asked a series of questions about my motivations, professional journey, limitations, problem-solving skills, goals, workplace annoyances, accomplishments, and reasons for applying.
- How do you evaluate your professional path up to this point?
- What are your most significant professional shortcomings that require enhancement?
Director
So, you might have a phone call first, and then go in person for a round-robin with different experts. Or, it could just be an interview and then they hire you. They try to have a process, but sometimes things move fast. Some interviewers will be super technical, others not so much. What they really care about is your vibe and how you connect with the interviewer, not necessarily your hard technical skills. They want to know if you can take direction and get the job done. Do you have enough experience to work with? Can you actually work on a team? That's a big deal.
- Can you tell me about a time when you couldn't accomplish something due to your own limitations in skills or knowledge, or due to shortcomings in your team? Please be specific about the steps you took to overcome it.
Proposal Manager
I had an initial phone call with the recruiter, then a phone interview with the team lead, and after that an in-person interview with a company executive. The recruiter was really quick to respond and super helpful with the salary negotiations. The HR Director also took some time on the phone to explain the benefits in detail.
- What are the key factors for you in a role?
Project Manager
I had a really bad time with this company's interview process. They reached out to me for an initial interview, and we set up a phone interview. But then, they just ghosted me and never showed up. I tried following up a few times, but got no response back. It was super disappointing.
