First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at British Airways.
Data Science Consultant
The booking system was broken, so I had to chase HR multiple times. First interview, they told me the salary was actually less than advertised. Then, with less than 48 hours notice, I was told I needed to do a presentation for the second interview. On top of that, I had to use my own laptop because they didn't have enough rooms to present in. HR won't give any feedback and have blocked my number. It was a really bad experience.
- Could you give a presentation on business ideas we could explore?
Data Scientist Intern
After submitting my CV and completing some online aptitude tests (like pattern recognition and data analysis), I had a video assessment. This involved questions such as 'What challenges do you think British Airways faces today?'. Then, I was invited for an in-person assessment at British Airways HQ. This consisted of two interviews: one where I was given a data-pack and an hour to prepare before presenting to mock managers, and another about my background and myself.
- What is your initial approach when presented with a new dataset?
Data Scientist
The interview process felt messy. The people interviewing me weren't very good Data Scientists, and HR stopped responding for a long time. If you want to get better at Data Science and Machine Learning, this probably isn't the best place. I got the feeling they mostly build dashboards here.
- How would you approach predicting flight cancellations
