First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at British Airways.
Customer Service Agent
It was a pretty easy process and interviews. I work for British Airways based at BWI airport. First, I was interviewed over the phone and then interviewed in person a couple of days later. There were 2 people doing the interview and they were very funny and made you feel like a friend to talk to. Very easy process.
- Can you tell me about yourself? What motivated you to apply to this company?
- What makes you want to work for us?
Customer Service Associate
So there were 3 rounds in total, and one of them was an English Assessment. I'd say it wasn't too hard, like, it was okay, as long as you've got good communication skills and can talk smoothly. Be prepared for a lot of back-and-forth questioning though, they really try to trip you up by asking stuff based on what you just said.
- Tell me about your interest in being a CSA.
- What makes you want to work for our company in particular?
- Be ready for them to ask you questions based on your own responses.
Customer Service Agent
First, I took some online tests, then a recruiter from the agency called me for a phone interview. We talked for about 20 minutes about typical customer service stuff like handling tough customers or giving great service, and what my biggest weakness is. They put me on hold to check if I could move forward, and I got an invite to a group interview day about a month later at the BA HQ in Newcastle. We started in a classroom setting after a quick intro to the company and role. Then we did a group task where we were meant to discuss a lot, and I guess figure out who was assertive versus rude or quiet. After that, we had to do the online tests again but on paper, including math, proofreading, and writing an email. I'd suggest being careful about who you sit with; I got paired with someone who took over awkwardly, and others who just agreed with her, so our group discussion wasn't great and the supervisor noticed. Finally, each of us did a role-play with a current employee in the next room, sitting back-to-back simulating a phone call. It turns out up-selling is a bigger part of this job than I realized, and I was surprised to see a script pushing 'shameless upgrading'.
- Can you share an example of excellent customer service you've delivered?
- Tell me about an instance where you handled a difficult customer.
- What motivates you to want to work for BA?
