It took several months and 8 interviews with 7 different people to get hired, although others are hired much faster. Hiring has been quicker lately because of high turnover in the last 18 months. They want to know about your past experience and if you're willing to "go above and beyond for the sake of the company," expecting overtime every week. They'll also ask about your communication style, books you've read, how you manage your day and set goals, how you handle challenges, and your overall experience. A key question is how you'll contribute to their culture, which is a test to see if you've researched their website, particularly their communication, Creed, and "Never Let Donkeys in the Pool" (NNIs), where employees are the donkeys. After getting the job, besides standard HR forms, you'll fill out a 20-minute skills and experience questionnaire. Definitely ask about work/life balance!

Behavioral Presentation

There were 3 virtual interviews. I first spoke with the recruiter, then my potential manager, and finally the department manager. Each interview was about 30-60 minutes and they were pretty straightforward and intentional. It felt like a good mix of them getting to know me, me getting to know them, and me being able to share my expertise.

After applying, I got an email within a week to set up a phone chat with the hiring manager. Then, I had an in-person interview at the Chicago office. The hiring manager was really clear about the job and what they were looking for. Even though I had a super demanding work schedule at the time, they managed to find a time that worked for me, which was unexpected. The in-person interview felt both serious and relaxed, more like a conversation than a Q&A. I felt like they were looking for someone keen to learn and develop in the role. They were open about salary and career growth, which was great.

The interview was pretty laid-back and straightforward, feeling more like a casual chat than a formal interview. They asked me some questions about my past work, and then I got to ask them some questions. The main issue is that they gave me a timeframe for when I'd hear back, but I never did. I reached out to the recruiter a week after our chat, but they never responded. It felt disrespectful, honestly. An update, good or bad, would've been nice.
