First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brightside.
Financial Assistant
I interviewed at the end of 2022 and was told the next hiring class would start training likely January or February 2023. They kept pushing it back. They would host "virtual coffee chats" where basically the same information was repeated over and over. They assured us that hiring would start late Spring 2023 with another coffee chat. Then months would go by with the occasional email update assuring that plans were in the works. December 2023 rolls around and they say that things are moving ahead and offers are imminent. April 2024 and still no offer. To be honest, I wouldn't accept an offer at this point. I don't trust them and from some of their current and past employee reviews on Glassdoor, I wouldn't feel good about working for their company. I felt compelled to share this if anyone else is in the early interviewing stages right now. Be warned.
- What would you do if a client called in with a specific scenario?
Financial Assistant
The interview process went very well! The interviewer were nice and I received an offer. The only issue is I received my offer almost 1 year ago but I haven’t actually started yet. Due to some delays with one of their contracts, we’ve been pushed back a few times. While this has been frustrating Brightside has remained very transparent and responsive. Fingers crossed we start soon!!
- They asked me to do a few mock customer phone calls.

Even though Brightside could be a decent place to work for, their interview process was truly awful and unprofessional. After a first interview that ran for 1.5 hours, they told me a second interview would be scheduled, which it was, but with two different people at the same time. I tried to contact the initial person to mention the issue, but couldn't reach her. Once they realized the mix-up, the second interview was set for the next day. Again, the interview seemed to go well, and I was informed that training sessions were starting and they'd contact me within 2 days. Nothing happened. I emailed the first person with no reply. I followed up multiple times because they assured me they 'wouldn't keep me waiting'. They did. Three weeks after my first interview and two weeks past their promised timeline, I got a rejection email saying they needed someone bilingual and a certified financial planner, even though these weren't mentioned in the job posting and didn't seem to be an issue when they contacted me on LinkedIn. This company wasted my time and didn't keep their word. I get that it's a startup, but they should still act professionally. In hindsight, I probably dodged a lot of red flags.
- Why did you decide to apply to Brightside?
Financial Assistant
The interview process was pretty straightforward and simple. It was just the recruiter and me. She gave me some background on Brightside and the job. Then I was asked to talk a bit about myself and my work history. There were two rounds in total. The second round was more about hypothetical situations, asking what I would do or how I would react.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Can you share a bit about your background and work experience?
- What would you do in this situation?
