A third party recruiter first reached out and scheduled a phone interview with their recruiter. This initial call included basic questions, and the recruiter seemed distracted. Following that, there was another phone interview with HR and a lead Data Scientist, and then an on-site interview. The on-site was quite straightforward, mostly behavioral questions with one 'Technical' question. The Data Science team is predominantly male, with perhaps one female in a senior role, and this dynamic was noticeable. I was offered the job on the way home and negotiated a $5,000 increase.

I found the job on Craigslist and applied at 1 PM. They emailed me back for an interview at 4 PM the same day. Before the interview, I researched the company online, which led me to Glassdoor. Reading other people's experiences made me think it would be an interesting interview. Another hint was meeting a woman doing her makeup in the bathroom, who didn't know what the company did. When I entered the office, I had to knock because it was locked. Inside, a receptionist greeted me and led me to a quiet, cubicle-filled area with what seemed like college students. After waiting 10 minutes, I was taken to an internal conference room. My interviewer, whose name I didn't get until the end, came in and started asking questions that seemed a bit random. They talked a lot about honesty, asked how I'd get a programmer to finish on time if I were the project manager, questioned if my parents would approve of the position, and asked about my life goals. We'll see what happens.

I interviewed for a Project Manager role at Brighterion and it was a really weird experience. I had a one-on-one with the CEO, who wouldn't introduce himself until after. He spent 30 minutes bragging about the company, saying their turnover is zero and everyone has a PhD. I saw about 10 young employees who looked like recent grads, making me wonder about the PhD claims, especially since LinkedIn didn't show any PhDs. Their website claims 76% have PhDs. The CEO also mentioned they interview 60-70 people to hire just 3-4, looking only for the BEST. They emphasized that everything was confidential and I didn't get to ask any questions. Basically, if you're a genius with a PhD and willing to take a pay cut, this might be your place.

So basically you mainly speak with the CEO. He pitched the company and talked up his staff. He emphasized honesty and respect, even with yelling. Then I did a quick programming test, just practical stuff you can look up, no theory. The next time I went in, it was pretty much a job offer, and the CEO reiterated his earlier points. He also mentioned his international staff are introverted, which made me a bit concerned about communication.
