First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BridgeStreet Global Hospitality.
Sales Manager
This is a review titled 'Bullet Gladly Dodged!' The author has 15 years of experience and has hired people before, so they know how interviews usually go. The interview process at Bridgestreet started okay but got weirder with each step. After the first interview, the author checked Glassdoor and found that all the negative reviews were accurate, and the positive ones seemed fake. They had three interviews and were about to do a panel presentation when they were emailed that their application was not moving forward, with no explanation. The initial conversation was good, but the HR contact kept giving tips to impress the interviewer, which the author saw as a red flag. After the second interview, they were told the next step was a mock sales presentation, which they found strange but agreed to. However, when HR called back, instead of setting up the presentation, they were told they needed to speak to another person, described as 'the head guy and REALLY tough.' The HR employee also gave surprising news: they couldn't do the presentation remotely from home as previously stated. The 'Sr. VP preferred I come to the office for the day.' The author, who was currently employed and couldn't take a whole day off to travel 3.5 hours for a job after only three interviews with no job offer yet, politely explained they couldn't make the trip and offered to do it remotely as agreed. The author mentions more details in the interview questions section about how ridiculous the process became.
- Can you share specifics about your current company's budgets for this year?
- How much revenue did your hotel generate towards its current targets?
- What portion of your hotel's sales can be attributed to brand recognition?
General Manager
It was a three stage interview process that lasted for three weeks, with prompt announcement of result. Clearly, the behavioural interviews are thing of the past. Prior to interview process I was given some questions to respond to. There was an online psychometric test as well.
- Can you give an example of what motivates you?
Sales and Business Development Representative
The interview was on-site, held in a conference room. I had to give a PowerPoint presentation to 5 Bridgestreet employees. The presentation needed to show how I would position their offerings against the competition. This was tough because Bridgestreet's reputation isn't great in the industry, with vendors, and especially with their staff, who are known to be unhappy. Good performers avoid this place because it's seen as a career dead-end. But it's worth noting what they pay, which isn't much, falling in the bottom 25% of competitors.
- What strategies would you use to find new clients needing corporate housing that they might not be aware of?
DOS
It was a multi-layered interview process. It was brief and basic. The panel interview was more difficult but fair. We met via skype with the interviewers. I prepared a presentation and they asked questions. It was a good format and exchange with HR and Sr Management. It was very thorough.
