I found out about this job through an email sent to grad students, for a role in Bridgestone-Firestone's research department. They were looking for someone with a recent PhD in mechanics or a related field, who knew about polymer constitutive equations, and had experience with the finite element method and software. It seemed like a good match, so they called me for a phone interview a couple of days later. Two days after that, they invited me for an on-site interview at the Technical Center. They treated me to dinner the night I arrived and breakfast the next morning. The interview day itself was packed: it started with a 30-minute presentation where I had 15 minutes for questions, then three 45-minute panel interviews, followed by a lab tour, and a final hour-long 1-on-1 with the department manager. It was a really intense day. They asked a lot of technical questions about my research and how I'd tackle modeling a tire, even showing me a tire cross-section to discuss the mechanics of its parts. Everyone at Bridgestone was super friendly and welcoming throughout. I got the call about the offer about two weeks after the interview. I prepped my presentation beforehand since it was the first thing in the interview process.

The interview lasted 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes were dedicated to me presenting my research background. Following that, the interviewer asked questions for another 10 minutes. These questions were quite detailed about my research, and they also inquired about my collaboration experiences and the most challenging aspect of my research work. The final 10 minutes were reserved for my questions.
