I got referred and then an HR recruiter called me to screen me. About a week after that, I spoke with the hiring manager who wanted me to do a panel interview. The panel had 4 people: 2 from the team I'd be on and 2 from teams I'd work with. The interviews with the 2 from my potential team went well, with one giving positive feedback. The interviews with the other 2 felt rushed and antagonistic, though not that challenging. After the interviews, I asked HR for an update and found out my recruiter left the company. I contacted the new person and never heard back; they ghosted me.

I applied through a staffing agency and had an initial virtual meeting with the Director, which was a good sign. The onsite interview was set for the next week. I did some research on the company and interviewers beforehand to get a feel for the team culture. I learned that five people had been in the same position before me, but only one was hired full-time, and the others left within a year, the most recent one leaving just two months ago after only four months on the job. This background information led me to believe there was a specific reason for the high turnover. The interview confirmed my suspicions. I knew then that I wouldn't be a good fit for the team or what they were looking for. I'm not recalling the exact order of the questions asked, and I'm taking them out of context.

Applied online late Oct 2022, heard back from recruiter early Nov. Had Zoom interviews with hiring manager and team members in Dec 2022 and Jan 2023. They brought me onsite to present a project and then I never heard from them again. It wasn't until I reached out 3 weeks later that they said they went a different direction. It was one of the oddest interview experiences I've ever had. I don't think they ever intended to hire anyone for this role and they wanted capable people to do free consulting work for them. They always deflected when I asked about the salary range and what the job entailed. I've gone through many interviews and hired many people, this was one of the worst interview processes I've seen and I could tell something was off from the beginning, trust your gut!

The interview process was quite thorough and challenging, but overall a positive experience. You can expect about three to four one-on-one meetings, followed by a presentation session lasting an hour. They offer more specific guidance on the presentation content than is typical elsewhere. If feasible, an on-site visit will follow, giving you a chance to interact with the rest of the team, which is helpful for assessing if you're a good fit. They're upfront about their high standards but also prioritize employee well-being and provide numerous benefits.
