First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Breakthrough Schools.
Director
The interview process was laid out pretty clearly and was easy to follow. First, I chatted with a recruiter on the phone. Then, I had a video call with the hiring manager. Finally, I did a panel interview with some members of the Central Office team. They kept me in the loop with clear expectations and timelines throughout.
- What is your approach to collaborating with principals across different campuses?
ENL Teacher
The interview process started with a phone screening. Then, there was a performance task where I had to suggest EL modifications for a general education classroom and create a lesson plan. Finally, I had a one-on-one interview with the director, which focused on my knowledge of English language acquisition pedagogy, my ability to do sheltered instruction, and major emphasis was placed on co-teaching.
- What's one thing you wish people knew about teaching English language learners?
Early Childhood Educator
First up was a panel interview, just a casual chat about my experience, how I run a classroom, and what I expect from students. Then I had to do a mock lesson, teaching both math and literacy, with students and admin joining in. After that, we chatted about what went well and what could have gone better.
- Could you tell me about your classroom management style?
- What's your strategy for teaching literacy?
IT
You'll have multiple interviews with different people from the company. They'll ask you technical questions to check your knowledge. It's a pretty long process, and sometimes they'll ask you the same question again to see how your answers differ based on the context.
- What makes you a better choice than other candidates who are also qualified?
