Human Resources
The interview was a video interview where I had to record myself answering questions on my laptop. I could re-record my answers as many times as I wanted. After that, I had an in-person interview at the actual office. The questions were pretty standard, mostly asking about my experience.
- Can you tell me about your experience using software applications?
Product Manager
This was one of the most thorough and thought-provoking interview processes I've experienced in over 20 years. It's definitely not easy, and you really need to know your domain. For me, I feel that if I'm found to be a fit, it's more likely to be a good fit. In an era of highly controversial lightning interviews that can make you feel like a robot or an auctioneer, and leave you feeling like you just went through a tough boot camp, this was a welcome change.

Analyst
I had two interviews over 2 months, and they didn't ask specific questions but instead talked about my resume and familiarity with Brandt's goals. There were several follow-up calls over another 2 months. In total, I spent 4 months talking to Brandt before they ghosted me. It says a lot when they always have so many open job postings that go unfilled. Benefits are mediocre, it takes 6 years to reach full pension, and it's strictly 8-5.
- What is it about Brandt that interests you?
- Can you tell me about your resume?
- How familiar are you with Brandt's goals?
Mechanical Design Engineer
I was at the Brandt, Saskatoon location for a job fair and there was a long line. The hiring manager spoke with me for about 15-20 minutes in an interview room. It was a really friendly and easy conversation. I never heard back though, which was a bit of a bummer. A rejection email would have been nice, but I get that they probably get a lot of applicants and can't respond to everyone. I'd still suggest checking out job fairs at Brandt because they're a growing company.
- Can you describe your professional background?
- What led you to discover Brandt?
- In what ways could your skills benefit Brandt?
