Senior Account Executive
A consultant reached out to me, and the process was pretty straightforward and moved quickly. The consultant was my main contact for everything. Most of the conversations focused on my previous work experiences and how I've handled different clients. They also asked about my experience closing big deals.
- Could you describe your approach to selling this services package?
- What strategies would you employ when dealing with a challenging manager?
Account Executive
So the process was pretty standard. First, there was a Recruiter Call, then a Hiring Manager Zoom, followed by a Panel Zoom, which included an assignment. After that, we had an In Person Working Session, then an Executive Call, and finally an Offer. The recruiter was super helpful and friendly, and the salespeople from the panel interview even offered to help me get ready for the in-person part.
- Could you prepare an account strategy for a real company and be ready to discuss it?
- Be ready to review your account strategy during the panel interview.
- Prepare a territory plan for your in-person working session.
Account Executive
I applied online and my resume was shortlisted. Within a week, I had an HR interview that lasted about 20-25 minutes. It involved basic questions about my current and past experience, what I'm doing, and how it's relevant to the role. The goal seemed to be screening for communication skills, experience, and enthusiasm for startups. Right after, I was scheduled for another phone interview with an Account Executive for the following week. The HR interview was good, and she was keen to learn about my background. She also gave me some pointers on what to prepare for the next round, where I could learn more about the company, its products, and culture. I prepared well for it and was excited. Unfortunately, the interviewer in the next round seemed uninterested, possibly distracted or driving while on the call. He didn't even cover the 4-5 points that were shared with me. He started by asking about my profile, and I answered everything. When I asked about the company, its culture, and products, he just told me to check the website. I found it frustrating that he wouldn't answer simple questions. I also asked some sales-related questions, but he seemed eager to wrap up quickly. When I asked about the requirements for a new joiner in the role, he said it was in the job description and I should have read it. When I asked for an update, as expected, I wasn't shortlisted. Honestly, I'm glad I wasn't, considering the culture and the time wasted. I also didn't receive any feedback. My suggestion is to respect everyone's time as much as your own and value others. Don't act like you know everything just because you're interviewing someone; it will help the company grow.
