I had to submit my background info like my resume, statement of interest, work history, and diploma copy. I also had to complete and send back a sample essay review for a fake customer. I could use photocopies of my credentials. The sample writing review was a bit of a pain because the forms were PDFs, and I had to copy the whole essay into Google Docs in a specific format, then add my comments. It took a while, but I guess you could get used to it with some practice after you're hired. I sent it in, and about 48 hours later, I got an email saying I didn't get the job. They didn't say why, just that it was about the essay review, not my qualifications. When I asked for details, they wouldn't give me any.

I applied for a tutoring position and was asked to submit my resume. Then, they inquired about my software proficiency, to which I responded that I'm intermediate with most but good with Word and PowerPoint. Following this, I was sent an application form to specify subjects I'm interested in teaching. I chose French and PowerPoint, but was later informed that this selection was insufficient, which I found frustrating as the requirement for a minimum number of subjects wasn't communicated upfront. I believe it's unfair to students if tutors teach subjects they don't know well.

Applied and got a quick response to set up an interview. The first interview was super short, only 15 minutes, asking about core competencies. I got some bad vibes, like maybe work-life balance isn't great. They said they'd be in touch in two weeks. True to their word, about two weeks later, they offered me the job right after that one short interview. I asked for the official offer letter because I had other options, and then they went radio silent. Also, the salary they offered was less than what they advertised.

For this role, the interview was basically a take-home assignment. I was given an academic paper to review and had to submit my assessment of it, just like I would be doing as a tutor. It was straightforward: review the essay provided and send it to the hiring manager at Brainfuse. No actual questions were posed.
