I didn't have an initial phone screening. Instead, I got a call about an interview at the new BP Lower 48 headquarters in Denver (which was still being built) with a continuous improvement engineer, a regional manager, and a production manager. When I asked about what was next, they said there were a few more interviews that week and I'd hear back in about two weeks. I followed up with an email after two weeks but never got a response. Over a month later, I got an automated email from BP careers saying I wasn't moving forward and that I shouldn't be disappointed that I didn't get to interview. It was really upsetting because I spent a whole day traveling and interviewing, and they just ignored me.

I submitted my resume online and then got an email to schedule an interview for the next week. The interview lasted an hour and a half, with half of it being behavioral and the other half technical. The behavioral questions were pretty team-focused, like asking about my role in a team or how I handle conflicts. The technical part was all about a heat exchanger, with a lot of follow-up questions on how to improve it, the associated heat flows, and potential problems.

I put in my application on the company website. After my application was reviewed, I had to do some online psychometric tests. Then I got invited to technical and HR interviews. After that, I went to an assessment centre with other people applying for jobs. It was a packed day of stuff related to the oil & gas industry and some scenarios to check how good I am with people and my logic skills and stuff.
