Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BOYNE.
Sales Agent
The hiring process was quite simple. First, you'll need to complete an application where you list your previous jobs and provide references. After they review your application, they'll ask you some questions about your background and your skiing knowledge. If time permits, the manager will then interview you.
- Do you have any skiing experience?
Front of House Manager
I actually didn't have a formal interview process. I got the job through a transfer from the Boyne Mountain headquarters in Boyne City, MI. My boss's boss was moving and saw some potential in me, so he offered me the position before he relocated.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Executive Housekeeper
The job was initially posted as Executive Housekeeper, but as we went through the interviews, the role evolved into a co-manager position.
- What is your housekeeping experience level?
Ticket Checker
I applied mid-September and heard back early October that HR had reviewed my application and passed it to the Hiring Manager, asking for a week to get in touch. About 5 days later, I got an email to schedule an interview for the next morning, which I did. The interview had about 5-6 questions about my past customer service and communication skills and how they'd apply to ticket checking. They also talked about benefits, pay, employee housing, and asked if I could ski double blue-square runs. The Hiring Manager was professional and nice, even helping rephrase a tricky question about communication skills. I even made a comment about it being harder to prove good communication than to actually have it, which the Hiring Manager acknowledged. Finally, I got to ask my own questions.
- Can you share an instance from your past work where you handled customers professionally and how you'd manage dealing with hundreds at once?
- Describe a time you de-escalated a situation with an angry customer and the methods you employed.
- How did you ensure effective and clear communication in your previous roles?
