So, the interview process here was a bit bumpy at first, but honestly, I've seen worse. It's pretty standard: a quick phone screen, a coding challenge, and then a technical and behavioral interview. The initial phone screen was basically to see if you're a real person. The coding challenge was pretty cool. You get a straightforward app to build within 48 hours, though they're flexible on the deadline. They provide specs and images for the app, plus Bottle Rocket's coding conventions. The challenge really tests your ability to use core iOS stuff without CocoaPods and how clean and well-architected your code is. They encourage you to add your own flair. Definitely ask questions during this part. After they check out your code, they'll set up a 30-minute technical interview and a 30-minute behavioral one. The technical interview was chill, just checking basic knowledge to make sure you're competent. Again, ask questions, they're super helpful and you'll likely learn something. The behavioral interview, though, could be the deciding factor. They really focus on culture fit, so even if you're brilliant, if you don't mesh with the team, it might be a no-go.

I was a Jr Developer with about 6 months of experience. The interview process was nice because it fit my skills and experience, which made it easy to get through. I had two interviews, one before WWDC and another two weeks after. I didn't get the position because they couldn't hire Jr Developers, and I'm glad I didn't because of the layoff that happened.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The interviewers are Sr Developers, so they will try to find what you do not know and ask you about it. It may seem tough, but they won't grill you on it; they are just trying to find what you are good at and how smart you are to figure out the question.

So they have this crazy hiring process, its really something else. First, you talk to the recruiter for a pre-screen. Then, you fill out this questionnaire. After that, you gotta build this simple iOS app, they give you the specs and you gotta disable ARC. Then it's a bunch of Hangouts or face-to-face interviews.

  • What are your thoughts on using singletons?
  • Explain the Observer design pattern.
