Data Scientist
First, I had a chat with a recruiter, then a really interesting conversation with the data science manager. When I asked the recruiter again about salary, she was cagey, maybe she realized she quoted too high a number initially. Not a great or honest move. Then came the technical interview with two data scientists. It went okay, or so I thought. I felt I answered the questions pretty well, even though I'm not a SEO expert. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for two reasons. First, they felt my answers weren't precise enough, which I can accept even if I don't fully agree. The second reason is bizarre: they accused me of cheating and looking up answers online during the interview, with no proof. I can't accept that; I've never felt so disrespected by a company.
- Can you explain PageRank, Google's algorithm?
Marketing Manager
The interview process for this Senior Manager of Field Marketing role took place from mid-April to late-June. It started well with an engaging recruiter who set expectations. However, it dragged on and changed from what was initially presented. The first five interviews were 30-minute virtual 1:1s on Zoom. Two of these interviews ran long by about 20-30 minutes, and four interviewers were a bit late. It took about 10-14 days to hear back between interviews. The last step was an in-person presentation to a panel of four, but strangely, three joined remotely, making the in-person aspect feel pointless. I also had a rough time finding the building due to address mix-ups with my Uber and phone maps, and the office was in a different spot. Even though I was a little late, they were understanding. The presentation itself was supposed to be 70 minutes structured into four parts: a 10-minute icebreaker (hypothetical bar opening), a 20-minute case study on an ABM campaign, a 25-minute case study on maximizing Shoptalk 2025 sponsorship, and a 15-minute Q&A. I confirmed the timing with the panel, but they cut me off after an hour. A week after the presentation, they asked for my deck. Twelve days later, the recruiter messaged to say they went with another candidate. I was initially disappointed but then felt relieved. Even though Botify was my top choice, the drawn-out process with long gaps and changes left a bad impression. There weren't major red flags, but enough to be okay with not getting an offer. It all worked out as I got an offer elsewhere, but I regret not leaving the Botify process sooner when it started deviating and when communication lagged.

Account Executive
The interview process included a chat with the head of recruitment, then a panel interview with the sales director, followed by a meeting with the CEO. After the recruitment manager's interview, I wasn't feeling it. The product presentation was worse than what was on the website. They talk about inclusion but the team photos didn't show it. They're really focused on hitting targets and getting clients, more than the candidate. I wasn't a fan of the product either. The offered salary wasn't competitive. Even though the recruiter was nice, the company overall just didn't make me want to work there.
- Tell me about your yearly quota achievement.
- Can you describe the size of customer accounts you've handled?
- What are your sales methods?
Account Executive
An internal recruiter from NYC reached out to me first. We talked for about 40-45 minutes. The recruiter asked me about my work history, why I was interested in this job, what I knew about the company, my personal situation, and my current salary, basically a standard screening call. After that, I had a video chat with the VP of Sales, which went really well. They asked me more detailed questions about my past sales numbers, how I handled sales cycles and my sales approach, my quota, and what I achieved. I also had to show I understood the product. Lastly, I went to their London office for an in-person meeting with a Senior Sales person. Honestly, this last interview didn't go as well as the previous ones; I felt like we didn't click, which I guess led to the rejection. It was about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the questions were pretty similar to what the VP asked.
- What do you like about your current employer, and what would you change?
- Tell me about what you like at your current job and what you would improve.
