First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Boston Planning & Development Agency.
Community Engagement Specialist
lots of interview rounds, all via zoom. i spoke with my potential supervisor a few times and also with a C-suite member. it all took about a month, maybe a bit more. ended up being 4 interviews total, all on the phone or zoom.
- Do you have experience in housing?
Language Access Coordinator
I was encouraged to apply by someone who emailed me about the opening. I interviewed with a panel and was told I'd hear back within weeks. They totally ghosted me even after I sent a follow-up email. I don't mind not getting the position, but it's EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL not to let candidates know the outcome after they invested time and attention in preparing for and attending the interview. And you want to increase diversity and inclusion in your organization? Start by treating candidates like human beings regardless of their race or ethnicity.
- What changes would you propose for the Language Access Plan?
Assistant
Applied online and was called in for a virtual interview that lasted about 45 minutes with my direct supervisor and another assistant. They said they'd let me know about next steps within two weeks. HR called me about a week and a half later to offer me the job. Overall the process took about 3 weeks.
- What makes you want to pursue a career in city planning?
Research Assistant
First, someone will show you around their workspace, including the models they use to study the entire Boston Area and their nice office. After that, you'll meet two people who will ask you specific questions about your resume and any previous work or internships you've had.
- Can you tell me what you know about the BRA?
