Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bose.
Software Engineer
The interview process was great, the people were super friendly and enthusiastic about their products. They were really flexible with my schedule. The process started with a couple of screening questions, followed by a one-on-one meeting with the hiring manager.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
Software Engineer
I had a quick phone screen that was about a half an hour to gauge whether or not the role would be right for me. What was not communicated in this call was that the role would be a Dev Ops job. A week after the phone screen I had a call with a director responsible for the group I was interviewing for. It was during this interview I was informed the position was a Dev Ops job. Although I wasn't interested, I continued to do the interview. Overall, the interview was straightforward and to the point. Bose knew what they wanted and so did I. My only complaint was the lack of transparency on the part of the recruiter initially.
- Can you write a function to find the numerical value of a set of ASCII characters?
- What does this code do, and what is wrong with it?
Software Engineer
I sent in my resume online and heard back from HR a few days later. We had a call, and then she set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager asked about my past work and some tech questions. Next was a code challenge where they sent me a small program. I had to add a feature and add comments since there weren't any. I had about 4 days for it, but it only took a few hours. After I sent it back, it took HR a week to reply and say they wanted an on-site interview. A coordinator was supposed to contact me, which took another week, and then they scheduled the interview for a week after that. The whole process seems super slow. The on-site is going to be long, about 5-6 hours.
- Nothing out of the ordinary.
