Senior Product Manager
I spoke with two recruiters. The first one was great, very communicative about what to expect. After passing the HM round, I was handed off to a "Senior" Recruiter. We chatted about next steps, but then they ghosted me. I followed up a week later about scheduling and heard nothing. I had to reach out to the first recruiter again. I eventually got an email saying the role wouldn't be open for a few months, but they wanted to continue. Three months later, I reached out again and after a couple of weeks of silence, the HRM system sent an automated rejection email saying I wasn't moving forward. For such a well-known company, this was the worst and most unprofessional recruiting experience I've had, especially with that second recruiter.
- Tell me about a product you like and how you would make it better.
- What would be your metrics to measure the success of your product improvements?
- Can you share an example of a time you led a team or project?
Product Manager
A recruiter reached out. The whole process took more than 4 months. It started with a 1-hour phone chat with the hiring manager. Then, I had to write a 2-page mini research report with a recommendation about entering a new business area. After that, it was an on-site with 7 people, each interview lasting an hour. There were case studies pretty much at every step, both on the phone and in person. They seemed really analytical and were looking for someone who would fit in with a team of mostly engineers.
- Could you describe how you would assess the feasibility of entering a new line of business?
Product Manager
I applied online and a recruiter reached out the next day. We scheduled a phone screen, and she mentioned it was already the final round for this role. She thought I was a good fit and would pass my info to the hiring manager and set up another call. Then, radio silence. Two weeks later, I got a generic rejection email. It would have been better if the recruiter had followed up personally, especially after saying she would. I get that accepting/rejecting is part of the job, but it gave a bad impression of the company culture, which is really important to me.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Bose?
- What specifically about this role caught your eye?
- What's your understanding of our company?
