First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Booyah Advertising.
Digital Media Strategist
The interview process with Booyah was amazing! I first connected with them through a recruiter and then got to meet the team I'd be working with. They had me do a project beforehand to show my skills, which made it a thorough process, but overall it was a great experience.
- Can you describe your previous experience in digital media strategy?
- How would you approach different client scenarios or demands?
Search Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, I spoke with HR. Then, I talked with the department lead. After that, I met with who would be my direct supervisor and their supervisor. I thought the process was great! No complaints.
- Can you share your experience?
- What kinds of clients have you worked with in the past?
Account Coordinator
This company, which claims a small-town feel and to stand out, was unwelcoming. Before deciding, research their turnover rate and employees' pasts. They don't call you but use Skype for an initial phone screen, awkwardly on speakerphone even though they offer free phone plans. The interviewer was late, showed no enthusiasm, and rushed through the 5 weak questions. After I answered, they'd just stay silent, say "huh," and ask the next question. For an advertising company valuing charisma, this was embarrassing. They also showed zero professionalism in emails and speech. They told me someone else would follow up, seeming clueless or aloof, and spent more time discussing their social life outside work. After a week and a half, I got a tacky response saying the position was filled. It felt like they just went through the motions to hire who they already wanted, wasting my time. They seem to target underdeveloped colleges with perks like ping pong and unlimited time off (which reviews say you don't get) and a food stipend, common for sales jobs. Given the reviews about absent management and a "figure it out on your own" culture, I'm glad I didn't get an offer.
- Can you describe your current responsibilities?
Programmatic Trader
The interviewers weren't the warmest, they went straight into technical questions without introductions or company info. The questions were pretty tough and they followed up on everything. You really need to prepare. It felt like they were looking for a mid-senior level candidate, even though the job is associate level. They seemed to ask hard questions on purpose, knowing my background. Their attitude and my questions suggest they want a senior person but pay an associate salary. They also didn't seem focused on employee growth or training, giving off an unwelcoming vibe. This team used to be its own agency before BOOYAH acquired it, so the positive reviews might not reflect this specific team.
- Can you describe some strategy and optimization recommendations you've implemented in the past?
