I was contacted initially and the planning for the interview was great. The hiring manager was organized and had a clear idea of what the company needed. After the initial phone interview, where I was asked about my digital savvy and achievements, an in-person interview was scheduled to meet the key people I would be working with. The in-person interview was an all-day event with 1-hour meetings with each person, plus a lunch interview. Bonnier seems like a great place to work; everyone was friendly and open, and people seemed genuinely happy and proud to work there. The benefits described are better than most media companies, and there seem to be many opportunities for professional growth. HR management mentioned that people tend to build careers at Bonnier due to the positive culture, growth opportunities, and benefits. The work culture is relaxed yet professional, with an emphasis on work-life balance. My advice to future candidates is to be confident, knowledgeable about the company and its magazines, and ready to offer insightful and innovative ideas.

The same day I applied, HR emailed me to set up an in-person interview. I gave my availability, but they gave me a different time, which felt like a power move since they ignored my preference. The next day, I interviewed at the HQ. First, I met with the lead of HR, who was great and talked a lot about the company. She did mention there were many other candidates, though. Then, she took me to the managing editor. The editor said the supervisor was running late but would join us. He did, and immediately started asking technical questions, which was okay, but he sounded condescending, and the manager tried to help ease the tension. After that, they told me to follow them for a skills test. The problem was, they never warned me about this, and it was more of an in-the-field test. Since the interview was scheduled so quickly, I wasn't dressed for it and didn't have time to do it. They never really explained the job or pay, and the interview was oddly organized, but the company seems like a good place to work.

My contact was very communicative though it took half a year for the position to become fully available. Once they were serious about hiring for the position, I was invited to Winter Park for a full-day interview. I was contacted and basically given a 7-day advance. They paid for travel including air, car and hotel. It was an organized day in which I was scheduled to meet with various people from 9:30 until 4:00.

The interview process was very straightforward, and my previous experience made it feel easy. I got to meet some of the current team members and management, and they were really clear about what they were looking for. I talked with three managers, and then they called me back to meet with the V.P. I got the job offer less than two weeks later.
