It was pretty standard. First, I spoke with HR, and they asked a few technical questions to check my knowledge beforehand. You needed to answer a couple correctly to proceed. For example, they asked if a specific algorithm is supervised or unsupervised, and about the expectation of a simple, discrete probability. After that, there was a technical interview with five tasks covering different areas, including SQL coding, Python, and some probability problems. The interviewer was really nice and helpful.

It was a strange recruiting experience. First, I had a meeting with the recruiter where they asked basic questions and a few quick data science ones, but the interaction felt off. They then said the next step would be a technical interview, which contradicted their email that mentioned a take-home assignment. I did have the technical interview, and it was actually handled really well. I had a good conversation with the interviewer, and I felt like they wanted me to do well. I received feedback that the technical interview went very positively, but they were waiting on a decision from the hiring manager before moving forward. This was over a month ago, and I haven't heard anything since, so I assume it's been dropped for some reason. Glad we both wasted our time.

The recruiter was unprofessional from the start, cutting me off to scold me for not instantly confirming I could hear her, which was obvious. This made me uncomfortable. Later, when I struggled with technical questions, she condescendingly said she'd be questioned if she passed someone with 'no technical skills.' While I know interviews are quick, basic politeness and professionalism are important for a good candidate experience and for the company's image.
