Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bolt.
CX Analyst
The interview started with a good chat with HR about the basics, and then I was asked to do a technical assessment. The catch was it was an 8-hour unpaid task. It involved doing data analysis in Google Sheets and writing a report with findings and recommendations. The actual work wasn't hard, but asking candidates to spend so much time for free is not ideal. Plus, there was a tight 2-page limit for the feedback, making it tough to include all key insights. I did my best and sent it over. HR later said the hiring manager thought my analysis could be deeper, but that was it. No detailed feedback or clarification. If you want a deep, quality analysis, hire me and I'll deliver. But expecting 8 hours of unpaid work and then giving vague feedback feels wrong. A good process should respect candidate time and expertise, not exploit it.

Customer Support Specialist
I received an email the day after applying for a 40-minute Skype interview. I picked a time slot for about a week later using the provided link; the process could've been quicker if another slot fit. The interview itself was only twenty minutes. The interviewer, a Customer Support colleague from another country rather than HR, was really friendly, though her English wasn't super fluent, making it a bit hard to understand her sometimes. She started by briefly describing the job, then asked about my motivation and work history. I wrapped up by asking about the work schedule and other details. I felt it went pretty well, despite my nerves, and my answers focused on the role and required soft skills. My experience seems relevant according to HR consultants, but I didn't move forward. I got rejected the day after the interview with no feedback, so I asked for some pointers but haven't heard back.
- Can you differentiate between good and excellent customer service?
- What's something you feel proud of accomplishing?
- What would you do with a million dollars?
