Virtual Assistant
I really liked this company and its mission, and I was excited about the possibility of joining the team. I went through a really long and time-consuming process, even speaking with the founder and having a good conversation. But then, a few days later, I got a standard rejection email saying, '...Thanks for your time, but the competition is very fierce amongst a group of highly qualified applicants...'. I get that they vet candidates thoroughly, but after all those rounds of written and video questions and live calls (which took a lot of time away from my work and family!), getting such a generic response felt like a slap in the face. It was super disappointing, Boldly. I expected more. If a candidate gets to the final step, they deserve a more personal explanation of why they didn't get the job, something that could actually help them improve and find other work. Your mission is about HELPING PEOPLE, so you should follow through on that to the very end.

- What is your motivation for joining Boldly?
Virtual Assistant
I did a video interview where I answered questions on camera for someone to watch later. It felt very impersonal. Before that, I had to confirm my availability for their needs and reformat my resume into a Google Sheet as a task before the video interview. They sent an email saying I was moving to the video part, but they also mentioned this doesn't guarantee moving forward and that competition is tough. That wasn't helpful and made me more nervous. Some questions in the interview didn't really show my EA skills. It was hard to figure out what they wanted because they say they want adaptable people who can do many things, which is me, but I was still rejected with no clear reason after the video interview. They seemed really interested when we communicated one-on-one, so it was surprising to get an informal questionnaire via video. I think asking for referrals to speak to former clients would be a better way to see what an assistant can do, rather than standard questions. I'm a bit worried I wasn't chosen because they didn't like my appearance or personality on camera, which are shallow reasons for remote work. I was told there were more tasks before an offer. This is becoming common for remote jobs and it's costly. People looking for jobs don't have hours to spend on tasks before an interview. If you're going to take up job seeker time, at least offer a small stipend or make it a paid work trial at the end so candidates don't feel like their effort was wasted. Interview first, then offer work trials to those you seriously want to hire.
- What cake flavor would you be?
- What do you like to do in your free time?
Virtual Assistant
They are really careful at choosing you for your skill yes but also for your personality and interest to see if they can fit you with one of their client. As soon as your online application is accepted, they will contact you for a first online interview. In this interview, you won't meet them. You will only have to answer questions online by recording your answer on video camera. Second step is a phone interview to talk about your skills. Third step is a video call interview.
- Which online productivity tools are you familiar with?
