Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bob's Discount Furniture.
Sales Associate
It was a super easy interview. They just asked questions, and I made sure to keep smiling the whole time. I also made sure to tell them I'm a team player, and just kept smiling and answering.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What is your greatest strength?
- What is your biggest weakness?
Sales Associate
The pre-interview was quick and simple online, involving many questionnaires and promotional videos about company culture. The on-site interview was brief and easy, focusing on getting to know me, reviewing my experience, and explaining the commission structure. After that, it took 25 days to hear back; I followed up by phone, message, and even in person a few times. The initial manager contacted me and said a higher manager would call me for a second interview in a few days. Two weeks passed with no word, requiring more follow-up from my end. Finally, I received a call for a very relaxed phone interview that felt like a formality and introduction. Later the same day, I got a call back and was offered the position. There was another 10 days for background checks and onboarding, followed by a week until my start date. The entire process spanned several weeks.
- Can you describe your sales experience?
- Are you comfortable with how the commission is structured?
Sales Associate
I got a lot of emails and texts with a link to record a video interview. I decided against doing it when I got a text from someone who wanted to set up a phone interview. At the end of that phone interview, she mentioned that the video interview would have to be completed before a face-to-face interview. She specifically noted it's an uncomfortable part of the process. This made me question why they include it. I ended up accepting an offer from another company.
- What makes you want to be in sales?
- Have you done commissioned sales before?
- What is your motivation for wanting to work for Bob's?
