It was pretty easy and they just gave me an offer right after. They basically asked me about basic knowledge of drilling underground. After the interview, they give you an offer and then you do a medical.

The hiring process felt a bit unusual; I spoke with a recruiter and didn't really connect with anyone from the company until the in-person interview. It seemed like their Salt Lake City office/warehouse is primarily for their drilling vehicles, with only a small upstairs area. They have about four geologists working there.

There were three interview levels. The first level was meant to check if I was capable of doing the job, with two interviewers trying to trip me up by jumping between topics. Following that, there were phone calls and email exchanges to negotiate terms. They tried to get me to accept a lower position and salary initially, claiming it was for my own good during the probation period, even though the job title was different from what was first proposed. The second round involved IQ and psychological tests, which was more interesting. The final round was for final confirmation.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • I have prepared answers for most tricky questions, with two versions: an official one and one that reflects reality. I tailor my responses based on what the interviewer expects to hear.

Behavioral Other

Typical interview, I had one interview with HR and then they flew me in to meet with the Procurement Director and CPO. They asked standard questions but were a bit rough in how they asked them. I met with three people in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company was good back in 2012 but has since gone downhill. I wouldn't be surprised if they went bankrupt given the current economic situation in the Mining industry.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Nothing out of the ordinary.
